Roadmap and Feature Requests for httui

The development of httui is an ongoing process, driven by the goal to enhance its functionality and usability. This section outlines the planned roadmap for upcoming features and provides guidance on how you can contribute ideas or request new features.

Future Features Roadmap

We are committed to continuously improving httui and have several exciting features planned for future releases. Here is what you can expect in the upcoming versions:

Short-Term Goals

  • Import Requests from Swagger/OpenAPI Files: Automate the creation of requests in httui by importing from Swagger or OpenAPI specification files.
  • Enhanced Variable Management: Introduce more sophisticated ways to handle variables, including group-specific variables and global environment variables.

Mid-Term Goals

  • Sync Settings and Data Across Devices: Implement functionality to sync your workspaces, requests, and configurations across multiple devices via cloud storage services like AWS S3.
  • Support for Additional Text Editors: Extend support to include popular text editors like VSCode, nano, and emacs, enhancing the editing experience within httui.

Requesting New Features

We welcome contributions and suggestions from our user community. If you have ideas for new features or enhancements, please let us know by opening an issue on our GitHub repository.

How to Request a Feature

Follow these steps to suggest a new feature:

  1. Visit the GitHub Repository: Go to the httui GitHub repository at httui GitHub (opens in a new tab).

  2. Check Existing Issues: Before creating a new issue, please check if there is already a similar request. This helps avoid duplicates and facilitates discussion on existing proposals.

  3. Open a New Issue: If your feature request is new, click on the "Issues" tab in the GitHub repository, and then click on "New Issue."

  4. Use the Feature Request Template: Fill out the feature request template, providing as much detail as possible. Describe what you want to achieve, why it is important, and how it could be implemented.

  5. Submit the Issue: After filling out the template, submit the issue. It will be reviewed by the development team, and you will be notified of the next steps.

Your suggestions and feedback play a crucial role in shaping the future of httui. By contributing ideas, you help ensure that the tool evolves in ways that are most beneficial to its users.

We look forward to your contributions and are excited to see how httui grows and adapts to meet the needs of its community!
